The Strathearn Gallery, established in 1994, is located in Crieff, Perthshire in the heart of Scotland and is run by a creative family whose objectives are to assist and encourage professional artists and craftspeople working in Scotland.

About the Site

  • The website was a complete redesign. Templates, stylesheets, MySQL database and the admin panel were written from scratch.
  • The website is driven by a MySQL database that stores all details of exhibitions, artists and artworks. A custom PHP CMS allows the client to update sections of the website themselves such as upcoming events and artwork images.
  • Javascript/Ajax is heavily used when viewing the artworks in an exhibiton. Heavy customisation of scrollars is also used for the horizontally scrolling thumbnails. A standard ligthbox javascript is used also, identical to the one used on this site.
  • To avoid additional spam, contact email addresses don't appear directly in the source code. Instead, Javascript is used to display them. Users may also complete a form and the results are emailed to the site owner who simply responds to the email address provided (similar to the contact form on my own contact page). From this point, both parties correspond as normal.
