Skype & Windows 7 "GDIPlus operation failed with ObjectBusy"

If you're having issues with Skype giving the error mesage "GDIPlus operation failed with ObjectBusy" on Windows 7 (shown below) you need to run the program in compatibility mode.

Simply right-click on your Skype shortcut and select Properties. Select the "Compatibility" tab. Tick the option to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows Vista" from the drop-down box. Click OK.

Run Skpe in compatibility mode

Restart Skype and the error shouldn't occur any more.
