Add "Add/Remove..." to Applications Menu in Linux Mint
Posted by webmaster on 2009-02-02 19:01:27 in LinuxI've been using Linux Mint for a little while under VirtualBox. I have a new laptop arriving soon and decided to stick Mint on it to try something new so have been getting used to it first under a VM.
So far, the only nag I have is that the default Mint Menu isn't as efficient as the default menu in Ubuntu. This can easily be changed by adding the "Menu Bar" applet to the taskbar. The only thing it lacks is the item "Add/Remove...". There's the Mint Install utility but I find it lacking a few essentials such as the ability to seletc multiple programs. So, to get the familiar Add/Remove program, do the following:
- Open up a terminal.
- Type: sudo apt-get install gnome-app-install.
- Enter your password when prompted.
- Wait for it to download and install.
- Enjoy.
