Posted by webmaster on 16/09/2007 in HardwarePermalink:
Came across this bug today on a computer callout. The details to On the following configuration:
- Windows Vista Home Premium
- Works 8.5 Spreadsheet
- HP C3100 series printer (in this case, a C3180) with driver version 61.063.247.00.
An error occurs when trying to print a spreadsheet.
When the printer has been detected and installed by Vista, Works is unable to open a particular spreadsheet without the message "Microsoft Works has stopped responding. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem."
Using the patch found at MS KB Foo cured the problem for all spreadsheets, apart from the one in use at the time of the initial crash. A workaround was:
- Remove (unplug) and uninstall the printer
- Open a new, blank document and Copy - Paste in the contents of the the contents of the first spreadhseet
- Save this with a different filename
- Reinstall the printer
- Open the new docuement and print to the HP C3100
All other documents are printing fine now, and there are no conflicts with any othe programs
