Stopping/aborting a forced impending shutdown

To abort a forced shutdown on windows, do the following:
- When the message appears do not close it
- Click Start -> Run
- Enter: cmd
- Press Ok
- Type 'shutdown -a', press Enter
The message box should close and the shutdown will have been cancelled.

Windows Vista Networking - Error code 1017

How to fix the this issue on Vista. None of the networking (lan or wireless) would connect. When I opened a terminal and tried to do ipconfig or ping anything, I got the error message "Unable to initialize windows sockets interface, error code 10107".
